Ray Stevens

Ray is one of the most decorated Judo players this country has produced. His distinguished competitive record includes an Olympic Silver Medal, a European Silver Medal, 2 Commonwealth Gold Medals and 3 British Open titles, as well as a host of other titles and championships. He is Vice President of the London Area for the British Judo Association and a 6^th Dan Black belt. It was Ray, as Manager of the Budokwai, who welcomed Mauricio Gomes and Roger Gracie to the Club and helped introduce BJJ to the UK. Ray has trained with Mauricio and Roger for many years and was awarded his BJJ Black belt by Roger Gracie. Ray has seen BJJ grow from a small group of students training at the Budokwai into thousands of people training across the UK. The BJJ UKC is the culmination of many years of hard work by Ray to help both BJJ and Judo to grow, develop and learn from one another.

Ed Semple

Ed has a PhD in Sport and Exercise Sciences. His research work has been widely published and given him the opportunity to lecture all over the world including the USA and Japan. Ed has written two books; Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu: A Training Manual and The Fundamentals of Judo, both published by The Crowood Press. He has over 20 years experience of working with elite athletes from a range of different sports. Ed is a UKCC Level 3 Judo coach with the British Judo Association (BJA) and sits on the BJA London Committee. He is also a Blue Belt in BJJ.

 

 

Stanislav Kotov

Stanislav is a founding Executive Director of a business and financial consultancy company headquartered in London. Previously, Stanislav was Deputy Director of the London office for Novatek OJSC. His earlier roles at Novatek OSJC included advisor to the Chairman of the Executive Board, Corporate Secretary to the Board of Directors and Director of Corporate Finance. Stanislav has trained with Ray for many years in both Judo and Brazilian Jiu-jitsu.
