Ray is one of the most decorated Judo players this country has produced. His distinguished competitive record includes an Olympic Silver Medal, a European Silver Medal, 2 Commonwealth Gold Medals and 3 British Open titles, as well as a host of other titles and championships. He is Vice President of the London Area for the British Judo Association and a 6th Dan Black belt. It was Ray, as Manager of the Budokwai, who welcomed Mauricio Gomes and Roger Gracie to the Club and helped introduce BJJ to the UK. Ray has seen BJJ grow from a small group of students training at the Budokwai into thousands of people training across the UK. The BJJ UKC is the culmination of many years of hard work by Ray to help both BJJ and Judo to grow, develop and learn from one another.
