The Surrey Open will take place this year on 16th August at Surrey Sports Park Guildford. “We chose this venue as it is the premier facility in the region and offered not only the facilities but also the service to allow us to run a tournament that meets our exacting standards” says chief organiser, Andy Roberts. “The arena offers plenty of space with bleacher seating for 800+, we will have dedicated changing facilities just for the competitors (male and female), a dedicated reception area, there is a Starbucks and also another cafe/bar on site.”
“We hope the Surrey Open will become one of the premiere BJJ tournaments on the UK circuit.”
Surrey Sports Park is a £36m elite training venue at the University of Surrey offering world class sports and events facilities.
Situated 30 minutes outside London and close to Heathrow and Gatwick Airports, the Park hosted 16 Olympic and Paralympic teams for pre-London 2012 training camps including GB Basketball, Singapore, USA Triathlon and Chinese Synchronised Swimming.
